On March 11, 2020, The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak a global pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted many of the disparities in our country. Lower socioeconomic communities have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 in an assortment of ways.
As a pre-medical advocate, our creator is passionate about eliminating barriers to success for individuals from disadvantaged communities such as her own. Her passion was born from lived experiences of overcoming persistent barriers. The financial burdens were the most discouraging on her journey to higher education. She believes by removing barriers to success she can encourage students to persevere.
For the past 7 months, she has been recycling medical school prep course materials and shipping them to students in need. The 1001 Aspirations Project is an expansion of this work and a chain of positivity in these very uncertain times. A commitment to impacting the lives of 1001 students by the year 2026. Providing resources for students facing hardships. By supporting the project students are reminded that they can achieve their goals. A reminder that someone believes in their future and endeavors to change their narrative. She knows the feeling of wanting one person to believe in her vision and passion. Poverty and economic class should not restrict one's ability to attain higher education.
